The petitioner, KK Ramesh, contended that there is strong evidence proving that COVID-19 has been created by China in the laboratory and the contagious virus, which has killed over two lakh people across the world, originated in Institute of Virology in Wuhan.

Citing China's obligation, the petitioner contended that "in 1984 the Biological Weapon Convention, China also agreed to the prohibition of the development, production and stockpiling of biological and toxin weapons".

Because of coronavirus, hundreds of Indians have died, the economy has been destroyed and people are facing a lot of inconveniences as they don't even food to eat and other necessities of life, added the petitioner.

He also criticized the government for not conducting "sufficient tests" and not handling the migrant situation well.
