Reportedly she was cremated in wee hours of Wednesday night by the police forcibly without her family's consent.

The petitioners contend that the "police authorities had not performed their duties towards the victims and trying to shield the accused for some unknown reasons".

Citing that no arrest has been done so far in the case the petitioners said, "The family of the gang-rape victim has been deprived by the Upper Caste persons and no action has been taken by the authorities/police officials on time".

The Uttar Pradesh government has already constituted an SIT on Wednesday and has asked it to submit a report within 7 days.

Two letters have also been addressed to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and Tehseen Poonawala to look into the case.
