New Delhi: Congress MP Manish Tewari on Wednesday, hit back at Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's withering remarks on Rahul Gandhi's tweet over the issue of alleged Chinese incursion inside the Indian territory in Ladakh, saying that opposition parties have all the rights to question the ruling Government regarding matters of nation's security and integrity.

While making a scathing attack on the Law Minister, Tewari said, "Nationalism and Patriotism is not an exclusive monopoly of BJP-RSS. Ravi Shankar Prasad has made a very unfair and completely irresponsible political attack on former President Of Congress Party. Being a responsible opposition party it is our duty to question the government on the issues pertaining to the nation's security and integrity."

Earlier today, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi posted a news article on Twitter which claimed that China has taken a hard line during military level talks.

"The Chinese have walked in and taken our territory in Ladakh. Meanwhile, PM is absolutely silent and has vanished from the scene," Gandhi tweeted.

Responding over his tweet, the Union Law Minister slammed Rahul Gandhi for questioning the government over international matters on Twitter.

"Rather than answering the questions on border issues the government has deployed Law Minister to use extremely abrasive language against the opposition. We want to tell him that he should save his sanctimonious anger for India's adversaries and the government should direct India's national angst against those who have illegally encroached upon our territory rather than on the opposition," said Manish Tewari, during a press conference on Wednesday.

He also showed a clip of Union Minister Rajnath Singh's remarks during a BJP's rally, articulated in 2013, where has was seen questioning the ruling UPA government regarding the Indo-China border issues.

Meanwhile, the Tewari also appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the nation as how much of India's territory has been occupied by the Chinese army till now.

"What the government is doing to restore the status quo ante and remove the Chinese army from Pangong Tso Lake in Galwan Valley? We want to know how much the Chinese troops have been pulled back," he asked.

Alleging that the Central Government has been trying to "normalize" the matter of intrusion of Chinese troops in India's territory, Tewari said, "What is happening on our nation's border involves the prestige of every citizen. When there are questions of security, unity, integrity, sovereignty, a country hopes that PM or Defence Minister will come to explain us about the situation, but unfortunately, there is no such initiative by the Government."
