Dharambir Singh, Member of Parliament from Bhivani, said that in the winter session of the parliament he will raise the issue to form the  'Ahir regiment' once again so that people of south Haryana can join it and serve the motherland.

He said that a larger number of people from south Haryana had participated in the Indo-China war in 1962 and played a vital role.  

He also said that there should also be a CSD canteen in his constituency for the convenience of people.

"It is a pride to be part of Rajya Sabha. I feel great to be here on the 250th session of Rajya Sabha. Lok Sabha is grounded but Rajya Sabha can look beyond and far. The Upper House sabha has witnessed some historical days."

"This house has seen many historic moments, it has made history also and has seen history being made as well. It is a far-sighted house," says Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

"It is the soul of federal structure of India which never gets dissolved." 

"Rajya Sabha is the place that values the experience of those who excel in their respective professions without contesting elections," PM Modi adds.

"Everyone thought Triple Talaq will get stuck in the Rajya Sabha but it is the maturity of this house that passed this significant bill and made it to law. Same with section 370 and GST. We want States and Centre to work together. They are not competitors in taking the nation forward."

Key questions in LS on 1st day of winter session

As the winter session of Parliament starts on Monday, there are a host of questions that are lined up for the government to answer in the Lok Sabha. These pertain to issues of economy, Corporate Affairs, Culture and Tribal affairs, economic slowdown, bank merger among others.

Here are some key questions that are listed for Monday:

1.Suresh Narayan has a question listed on the GDP: It questions the reasons for the slump in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to an all time low of 5 per cent in the April-June quarter; and the steps the government is taking to increase investment.

2. N.K. Premachandran has a volley of questions on economy.

(a) whether the Government has analysed the reasons for economic slowdown in the country?

(b) whether the Government has also analysed the impact of implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on economic slowdown?

(c) whether the Government has conducted any study regarding the impact of implementation of foreign trade agreements and economic slowdown?

(d) whether the Government has initiated any action to overcome the present crisis developed due to economic slowdown?

(e) whether the Government proposes to change the policy so as to overcome the economic slowdown?

3. Annapourna Devi wants to ask about corruption. She seeks to know whether the Government has taken action against any official in corruption case relating to the disbursement of loans in nationalized banks during the last three years?

4. With Jharkhand election round the corner, Vishnu Dayal has a question that pertains to the state. He wants to know whether the Government is planning to develop any new tourism circuit in Jharkhand like the Buddhist and tribal circuits apart from the proposed Eco-circuits under its Swadesh Darshan scheme?

5. Umesh Jadhav has questions listed that pertains to tribal affairs. He wants to know whether the Government is planning to increase the budgetary allocation for the welfare of tribals in the country?

6. Meanwhile, Sumedhanand Saraswati seeks to know whether the Government proposes to supply Piped Natural Gas in all cities of the country?

However it remains to be seen how many questions are asked and debated amid the expected in the house.

The nearly month-long winter session of Parliament beginning will see over 35 legislations taken up, including the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which amends the definition of illegal migrants, and the Personal Data Protection Bill.

Currently, there are 43 bills pending in Parliament. Of these, 12 Bills are listed for consideration and passing and seven are listed for withdrawal. Twenty-seven bills are listed for introduction, consideration, and passing.

Parliament LIVE: Winter Session begins today: Congress, NC Walk out of Lok Sabha over Kashmir situation

New Delhi: The Winter Session of Parliament starting Monday is expected to witness heated debates as the Opposition looks to corner the government over issues like the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, economic slowdown, unemployment and the government's plan to bring the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, a key part of BJP's ideological agenda.

The session will commence at 11 am with obituary references to two members of the Upper House - former Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Ram Jethmalani - and former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.

Both Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha might be adjourned for a few hours on Monday morning to pay respects to the deceased members.

The session, which will end on December 13, will see a total of 20 sittings.

The previous session of Parliament created a record for maximum Bills passed in the last 67 years. During the session, the Lok Sabha worked for 281 hours, or 135 percent of the scheduled hours. This figure is higher than any other session in the past 20 years. The Centre had extended the session in order to complete the legislative business. The Rajya Sabha also saw high productivity, at 100 percent.
