Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh): Mudichera Savitribai a resident of Gumitamtanda, Orvakallu Mandal, Kurnool District joined Brahmanapalli Panchayat Village as a volunteer on 15th August 2019 after finishing TTC.
Since then she has been working tirelessly to distribute government payment of pensions to elderly people in the ward allotted to her.
Last month, the government aimed to distribute the pensions by October 1. On September 30 Savitribai went to her home with Rs 60,000 of pensions so that she could set out early on October 1 to distribute the pensions. However, it started raining at night.
Even then she started early next morning and travelled 5 km from her hometown Gumitamtanda to Brahmanapalli. In the rain, she set off on a two-wheeler with her younger brother Tarun Nayak.
En route Brahmanapalli she had to cross over a canal named Maddiletayya. But due to heavy rains, the canal was flooded. Though her brother and a senior official at the Panchayat tried to stop her from crossing over, Savitribai finally crossed the canal with the help of her fellow volunteer Karunakar.
Her only objective was to distribute the pension to all elderly persons who were awaiting her arrival.
