In a befitting reply to Islamabad at the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), India said that Pakistan, the 'pernicious cradle of global terrorism', continues to be the biggest threat to human rights of people, including those who defend Jammu and Kashmir against that country.

Geneva: The 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) commenced at the headquarters of the UN in Geneva, Switzerland.

While exercising India's Right of Reply (RoR) in response to Pakistan, First Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs, Vimarsh Aryan said, "This Council (UNHRC) is responsible for promotion and protection of all human rights universally. However, ironically, what we heard from Pakistani delegation was an attempt to polarise and politicize this august forum."

He further said that Pakistani delegation is raising false and fabricated concerns for rights of human rights defenders elsewhere, however, unfortunately, legitimate human rights defenders in Pakistan are bearing the brunt of real draconian laws.

Aryan said, "The biggest threat to the human rights of our people including defenders in Jammu and Kashmir comes from the pernicious cradle of global terrorism, which is Pakistan, and whose top leadership has openly acknowledged the same."

"Jammu and Kashmir has been, is and will continue to be an integral part of India and Pakistan should cease to covet it. As far as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is concerned, it has no locus standi to comment on the internal affairs of India," Aryan added while concluding his reply.
