Speaking to ETV Bharat, Former Indian ambassador Anil Trigunayat said, "Maleeha Lodhi has been removed as the benefactors within Pakistan, especially its army is not happy after the Imran Khan government failed to internationalise the Kashmir issue."

"Maleeha Lodhi has been at the UN for more than four years. She has been a strong voice. This time Pakistan has lost all the ground. Imran Khan administration is under tremendous pressure and in order to pass the blame that she hasn't done enough, she was removed," said Trigunayat.

Lodhi's removal was announced by Pakistan Foreign office a day after Imran Khan returned from the U.S. Pakistan Foreign Ministry.

Munir Akram has been now appointed as Pakistan's permanent representative at the U.N.

Commenting on Munir Akram appointment, Trigunayat said, "Akram has controversial past and he does not come with very bright credentials."

In 2002, Munir Akram was accused of domestic violence by his partner Marijana Mihic while serving as Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations.
