Hyderabad: Arshdeep Singh Khurana, P Chidambaram's lawyer, wrote to CBI after CBI had put up a notice outside Chidambaram's residence. He wrote, "I am instructed to state that your notice fails to mention the provision of law under which my client has been issued a notice to appear within 2 hours."
A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers arrived at the residence of P Chidambaram on Tuesday evening following which they left after they couldn't find the former finance minister at home. The ED has also reached his place following CBI's departure.
Khurana went on to write, "Furthermore, my client is exercising the rights available to him in law & had approached the Supreme Court on August 20 seeking urgent reliefs in respect of the order dismissing his anticipatory bail (in INX media case). He has been permitted by SC to mention the urgent Special Leave Petition against the order before Court at 10:30 am today. I, therefore, request you not to take any coercive action against my client till then & await the hearing at 10:30 am."
The CBI team once again reached the former finance minister's residence reportedly around 11:30 PM with a notice asking him to appear before them in the next two hours.
Chidambaram was asked to mention in the Supreme Court today his appeal for urgent hearing against the Delhi High Court order which dismissed his anticipatory bail plea in the corruption and money laundering cases related to the INX Media scam.

Minutes after the High Court decision when Sibal tried to get the matter before the CJI, he was asked by a Supreme Court official to place Chidambaram's petition before Registrar (judicial) who will take a call on putting it before the Chief Justice of India.
Sibal met Registrar (judicial) Surya Pratap Singh and explained to him the situation and explored as to what could be done.

Earlier, Delhi High Court had dismissed both his anticipatory bail pleas.
