Manipur minister Nemcha Kipgen tests positive for COVID-19

Imphal: Manipur's social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen took to Facebook on Tuesday to announce that she has tested positive for COVID-19.

She asked all those who came in contact with her recently to get tested as soon as possible.

"After getting symptoms of coronavirus, I got myself tested and the report came back positive. I sincerely request all of you who have come in contact with me in the past few days to kindly isolate yourselves and get tested at the earliest," she said on Facebook.

Kipgen became the cabinet minister in the state to have contracted the disease.

According to a spokesperson of the COVID-19 control centre here, she has been asked to undergo home isolation.

Due to the increase in the number of tests in the country, the positive rate of the virus has reduced, Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference he said, "The positive rate of Covid-19 has decreased due to the increase in the number of tests. In the last 24 hours, 60 thousand 975 new cases of the corona were reported in the country. 848 people died. 66 thousand 550 patients recovered."

Divulging further Bhushan said that only less than 3 per cent of the total active cases are on oxygen support and active cases are decreasing day by day in the country.

"A total of 7,04,348 patients are undergoing treatment. The number of active cases is decreasing day by day in the country. Today only 15 per cent of cases come in hospitals while only 2.70 per cent of the total active cases are on oxygen support," he said.

"69 per cent males and 31 per cent of females have dies due to COVID-19. 58 thousand 390 people died from Corona so far," added Bhushan.  

Meanwhile, he said that India and Russia are in communication as far as Sputnik-5 vaccine is concerned.  

"As far as Sputnik-5 vaccine (COVID-19 vaccine developed in Russia) is concerned, India and Russia are in communication. Some initial information have been shared," he said.

Eighteen more people, including 11 personnel of various armed forces, tested positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya on Tuesday, taking the state's tally to 1,994, a senior health department official said.

At least 10 people were discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of recoveries in the northeastern state to 799, Health Services Director Aman War said.

With 72 more patients succumbing to COVID-19, the death toll due to the viral disease rose to 3,059 in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, while 5,124 fresh cases took the infection tally to 1,97,388.

"In past 24 hours, 5,124 fresh COVID-19 cases were found. There are total 49,575 active cases while 1,44,754 persons were treated and discharged," Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters here.

The recovery rate of patients in the state is 73.33 per cent, he said, adding that over 1.21 lakh samples were tested for detection of COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total number of tests so far to over 47 lakhs.

He said in the external monitoring of contact tracing of COVID-19 patients, a total of 1,04,488 contacts of 29,313 positive patients were traced.

"Of the 1,04,488 contacts, 93.2 per cent (total 97,422) told that their samples were tested. Directives have been issued to test the remaining ones," he said.

COVID-19: Six more deaths recorded in Rajasthan

Rajasthan recorded six more fatalities due to the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, taking the COVID-19 death toll in the state to 973, according to a health department official.

The state also reported 695 new cases of the virus.

The total number of people infected by COVID-19 now stands at 72,650 in Rajasthan and out of these 14,883 people are under treatment.

The official said that 56,091 people have been discharged after treatment till now.

In Jaipur, the COVID-19 death toll stands at 260 followed by 87 in Jodhpur, 67 each in Bikaner and Bharatpur, 65 in Ajmer, 60 in Kota, 42 in Pali, 41 in Nagaur, 24 in Udaipur, 23 in Alwar and 19 in Dholpur.

Mysuru Police Commissioner tests positive for coronavirus

Mysuru City Police Commissioner Chandra Gupta has tested positive for coronavirus, a police official confirmed to IANS on Tuesday.

Similarly, Assistant Commissioner of police Bharat Raj has also tested positive for the virus.

Both are receiving treatment under home isolation.

Gupta had attended the Independence Day celebrations at the Zilla Panchayat Hall recently.

The August 15 celebration was chaired by S.T. Somasekhar, district-in-charge minister, and also attended by Deputy Commissioner G. Abhiram Sankar, along with other officials. Sankar later went into quarantine as his driver tested positive.

Earlier, Mysuru District Superintendent of Police C.B. Ryshyanth tested positive for the virus on August 17.

In late June, as many as 92 police officials in the district were sent to quarantine, all of whom tested negative for the virus on June 26.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Mundhe informed that he has isolated himself after being tested positive for coronavirus and urged those who came in his contact in the last 14 days to get tested for the virus.

"Dear All, I have tested positive for COVID19. I am asymptomatic and have isolated myself as per the protocol and guidelines. Request everyone who has come in my contact for last 14 days to get tested. I am working from Home to control the pandemic situation in Nagpur. We shall win," he tweeted.

Haryana transport minister tests positive for COVID-19

Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, a day before the Assembly's monsoon session begins here.

On Monday, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Speaker Gian Chand Gupta were also found infected with the virus. Officials said the chief minister, admitted to Gurgaon's Medanta hospital, is in a stable condition.

The speaker had mandated a coronavirus test for all MLAs, Assembly staffers and officials ahead of the session beginning August 26.

BJP MLAs Lakshman Napa, Ram Kumar Kashyap and Aseem Goel have also tested positive as have six Assembly staffers.

Telangana has reported 2,579 new Covid-19 cases, the highest single-day spike since the outbreak of the pandemic in March, health officials said on Tuesday.

With this, the state's tally mounted to 1,08,670, while nine deaths pushed the overall toll to 770.

The state also set the record by conducting 52,933 tests. This is the highest number of tests to be conducted in a 24-hour period. The total number of tests done so far is over 10 lakh.

COVID LIVE: Karnataka Congress state president DK Shivakumar tests positive

New Delhi: Over 3.5 crore people have been tested for COVID-19 so far, resolutely following the 'Test Track Treat' strategy, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said on Tuesday.

"India has tested more than 3.5 crore people for COVID-19 so far, resolutely following its 'Test Track Treat' strategy," the MoHFW tweeted.

On Monday, the country's total coronavirus count reached 31,06,349 which include 23,38,036 cured/discharged/migrated cases. The death toll stood at 57,542.

The Ministry further pointed out that high testings in the country have helped in controlling the spread of the infection.

"As the first step towards timely identification, prompt isolation and effective treatment, higher testing also results in limiting the spread of infection," it said.

The MoHFW had earlier said that the gap between recoveries and COVID-19 active cases continues to widen as the recoveries are more than three times the active cases.

In Jaipur, the COVID-19 death toll stands at 260 followed by 87 in Jodhpur, 67 each in Bikaner and Bharatpur, 65 in Ajmer, 60 in Kota, 42 in Pali, 41 in Nagaur, 24 in Udaipur, 23 in Alwar and 19 in Dholpur.

Mysuru Police Commissioner tests positive for coronavirus

Mysuru City Police Commissioner Chandra Gupta has tested positive for coronavirus, a police official confirmed to IANS on Tuesday.

Similarly, Assistant Commissioner of police Bharat Raj has also tested positive for the virus.

Both are receiving treatment under home isolation.

Gupta had attended the Independence Day celebrations at the Zilla Panchayat Hall recently.

The August 15 celebration was chaired by S.T. Somasekhar, district-in-charge minister, and also attended by Deputy Commissioner G. Abhiram Sankar, along with other officials. Sankar later went into quarantine as his driver tested positive.

Earlier, Mysuru District Superintendent of Police C.B. Ryshyanth tested positive for the virus on August 17.

In late June, as many as 92 police officials in the district were sent to quarantine, all of whom tested negative for the virus on June 26.

Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has tested positive for COVID-19.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Mundhe informed that he has isolated himself after being tested positive for coronavirus and urged those who came in his contact in the last 14 days to get tested for the virus.

"Dear All, I have tested positive for COVID19. I am asymptomatic and have isolated myself as per the protocol and guidelines. Request everyone who has come in my contact for last 14 days to get tested. I am working from Home to control the pandemic situation in Nagpur. We shall win," he tweeted.

Haryana transport minister tests positive for COVID-19

Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, a day before the Assembly's monsoon session begins here.

On Monday, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Speaker Gian Chand Gupta were also found infected with the virus. Officials said the chief minister, admitted to Gurgaon's Medanta hospital, is in a stable condition.

The speaker had mandated a coronavirus test for all MLAs, Assembly staffers and officials ahead of the session beginning August 26.

BJP MLAs Lakshman Napa, Ram Kumar Kashyap and Aseem Goel have also tested positive as have six Assembly staffers.

PCR test report from a govt-approved lab in India requires to travel UAE

For passengers travelling to UAE (12 yrs & above), a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test report in printed form, from a govt-approved lab in India (ICMR/verified designated lab), is required. Passengers are required to take the PCR test not more than 96 hrs before departure.

Telangana logs highest one-day jump of 2,579 COVID cases, tally at 1,08,670

Telangana has reported 2,579 new Covid-19 cases, the highest single-day spike since the outbreak of the pandemic in March, health officials said on Tuesday.

With this, the state's tally mounted to 1,08,670, while nine deaths pushed the overall toll to 770.

The state also set the record by conducting 52,933 tests. This is the highest number of tests to be conducted in a 24-hour period. The total number of tests done so far is over 10 lakh.

COVID LIVE: Karnataka Congress state president DK Shivakumar tests positive

New Delhi: Over 3.5 crore people have been tested for COVID-19 so far, resolutely following the 'Test Track Treat' strategy, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said on Tuesday.

"India has tested more than 3.5 crore people for COVID-19 so far, resolutely following its 'Test Track Treat' strategy," the MoHFW tweeted.

On Monday, the country's total coronavirus count reached 31,06,349 which include 23,38,036 cured/discharged/migrated cases. The death toll stood at 57,542.

The Ministry further pointed out that high testings in the country have helped in controlling the spread of the infection.

"As the first step towards timely identification, prompt isolation and effective treatment, higher testing also results in limiting the spread of infection," it said.

The MoHFW had earlier said that the gap between recoveries and COVID-19 active cases continues to widen as the recoveries are more than three times the active cases.
