Centre has asked Opposition to apologise for the misbehaviour with the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman after which they can request the Chair to consider the withdrawal of their suspension.

New Delhi: The BJP Government on Tuesday said that the opposition MPs should seek an apology before the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman so that Government could consider withdrawal of their suspension.

"If the opposition MPs seek an apology before the honourable Chair, we can request the Chair to consider the withdrawal of their suspension," said Union Minister Tawar Chand Gehlot.

He said that the action taken by the opposition MPs shows their arrogance and behaviours which is against the Constitution.

"By going on the well of the House, they have violated the discipline and by tearing the papers, and thrashing the Chair, they have crossed all democratic and constitutional discipline," said Gehlot.

Gehlot, Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Prahlad Joshi in a short brief to the media also criticised the Congress for the entire episode.

"We know the MP who went to the Chair in a way opposed to the Constitution. Had the marshal been not that, the MPs could have physically assaulted the Chair," said Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

One of the MP was a minister in the UPA regime. "We want to know if this an internal politics of the Congress party...they forgot all the ethics of democracy and constitution," said Prasad.

"We have not seen such a scene in decades of our career," said Prasad.

He reiterated that the MPs should seek an apology before the Chair.
