On Going Efforts of HRD Ministry to tackle COVID-19

Minister for Human Resource Development has been continuously taking efforts to fight against Coronavirus. A dedicated cell to address mental health of students and teachers will be formed. Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' also interacted through video conference with Vice Chancellors of Central Universities across the country to adopt measures in the University for prevention of Coronavirus.

To keep the motivation high among students & teachers during & after the period of COVID Pandemic, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Cabinet Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India has directed the HRD Ministry to create a dedicated cell that will address all mental health issues of the students & teachers. The mental health issues both during and post COVID Pandemic will be addressed. The cell will be headed by a Joint Secretary at MHRD.

Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' also interacted through video conference with Vice Chancellors of Central Universities across the country in backdrop of spread of COVID-19. Following points were discussed during the meeting:-

  • Measures to be taken regarding health of students residing in hostels and academic and non-academic staff of the university.
  • Proper adherence to social distancing and isolation instructions in the university.
  • Provision for testing of suspected cases of COVID-19 in the University.
  • Arrangements made to continue the education of students
  • Management to deal with mental health challenges of students.
  • Resolve the salary related problems of all employees (permanent, temporary and daily wage earners).
  • Initiatives related to COVID-19 to be informed through social media.
  • Research related to COVID-19 may be carried out.

HRD Ministry is also continuously tweeting about Do's and Dont's during Coronvirus pandemic.
