Srinagar (JK): Former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday criticised the administrative decision to suspend internet service in Kupwara district in the wake of heavy shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran and Tangdhar sectors.
"Why on earth would the administration suspend the internet in the entire district because of shelling along the LoC? It's almost as if the authorities are looking for any excuse to flick the internet switch", Omar tweeted.

The indiscriminate shelling by Pakistan army in Keran and Tangdhar sectors of the LoC has affected over half-a-dozen villages.
After unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan, Indian positions have also retaliated with appropriate fire power, defence sources said.
Fearing for their lives many residents of villages close to the LoC in these areas have abandoned their homes.
