Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has banned sell and use of firecrackers for Diwali and Kali puja, Chat puja and Jagadhatri puja across West Bengal. The order adds no entry for the public to the Kali puja pandals as well. Any procession of idol immersion is also banned.

On November 2, the NGT had issued a notice to Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). The NGT had asked for a ban on firecrackers considering the levels of rising pollution in India.

Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Odisha have already banned the sale of crackers during the festive season. Karnataka too is considering this idea.
