No files should be kept pending in MHA, orders Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah ordered officials not to keep files pending with the ministry for more than 15 days, sources said.

New Delhi: In a bid to ensure that files are not held back within the Union Home Ministry, Amit Shah has issued orders to avoid piling up of undertakings, sources said on Tuesday.

Sources said that Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered that no files will be kept pending in the ministry and it should be reviewed within each 15-day interval.

"It has been ordered that the officers who face any difficulty in completing the file work on time should report to the Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba immediately. If the concerned officer fails to complete the work on time, he will have to specify the reason behind it," said a source in the home ministry.

Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba will also hold a review meeting on the Home Minister's order within 15 days.

It is to be noted that after taking the charge of Home Ministry on June 1 , Amit Shah started working from the very first day and held meetings with the home secretary and other MHA officials to review the ministry work and challenges towards implementing the NRC, and tackling of terrorism, Kashmir militancy and left-wing extremism.
