Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's ancestral village Kalyan Bigha has all the modern facilities. From building Industrial Training Institute, a shooting range, referral hospital, power sub-stations, government middle and high schools to parks and gyms, JD(U) supremo has contributed to develop his native village. But still, the people of Kalyan Bigha, which is a part of Harnaut assembly seat, are not happy with the CM over the migration and corruption issues.

The villagers are miffed over the fact that JD(U) candidate Harinarayan Singh after winning the assembly seats twice, did not visit the village even once. "We suffered a lot during COVID. There was a huge influx of migrant workers when the lockdown was imposed. We needed proper medical treatment at that time but the leaders did not reach out to us. Even Nitish Kumar did not visit us," said the villagers.

Complaining about no proper medical treatment, the agitated villagers said, "Though CM Nitish Kumar has built a referral hospital for us, there is no proper medical treatment and medication. People still have to travel to other hospitals for treatment. The situation becomes worse in cases of emergency. Being a resident of the village, Nitish Kumar does not care about us."

Highlighting the issue of corruption, which is undoubtedly rampant in the state, the people said, "Three years ago, Kalyan Bigha stadium was built after investing millions of rupees. But the stadium seems more like a jungle. It is not worth playing sports and no maintenance has been done. The youth had also pleaded many times but their talks were ignored."

There are around 1800 voters in Kalyanbigha. Like any other village, Kalyanbigha is also faced with the problem of migration. A large number of people have migrated from the village due to which there is always silence in Kalyanbigha. The people of the village are also unhappy over the prevalence of corruption.

After becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar first constructed the link road for the village. Kalyan Bigha got three connecting roads from different directions. Now, one can reach Kalyanbigha from Harnaut, Chero and Nagarnausa. Bihar’s only shooting range was established in Kalyanbigha where children aged between 13 and 18 years learn shooting free of cost. Sixty children are enrolled in one go. The shooting range was built in the year 2011. For this, a new building was built in 2017 which was also inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Many children, who have passed out from this shooting range, have got government jobs as well.

"The MLA has nothing to do with the problems and needs of the public. Now since it is election time, leaders will visit us and ask for votes," villagers said.
