New Delhi: Nirbhaya's mother on Wednesday hailed the Supreme Court's decision to dismiss a plea by one of the four convicts, Mukesh, seeking reconsideration of the President turning down his mercy petition.
Speaking about it to reporters, Asha Devi said, "Although there was a delay in providing justice, the decisions taken are correct. Even the Court is understanding that accused are deliberately filing the petitions one by one to delay the case. I welcome the Supreme Court's decision and I hope they will be hanged on February 1."
She further added, "This has been a long fight and I have run from pillar to the post to get the justice. I have been following the law since the past seven years. I have full faith in it. I will abide by the law, and I hope that they will be hanged now."
It is to be noted that four men, Vinay, Akshay, Pawan and Mukesh have been convicted and sentenced to death for raping a 23-year-old woman in a moving bus in the national capital on December 16, 2012.
They will be executed on February 1 at 6 am.
