NIA attaches property of Pulwama attack accused Irshad Ahmad Reshi

In an order issued, the NIA said it had reason to believe that the property represents proceeds of terrorism and has been used in furtherance of terrorist activities of proscribed organisation Jaish-e-Muhammad.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the house of Pulwama attack accused Irshad Ahmad Reshi as “proceeds of terrorism.”

In an order pasted outside the house in Pulwama's Ratnipora area, the NIA said it had reason to believe that the “property represents proceeds of terrorism and has been used in furtherance of terrorist activities of proscribed organisation Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM).”

An NIA official said, "the attachment was done under Section 25 of the Unlawful (Activities) Prevention Act, 1967 while directing all the concerned not to transfer, sale or otherwise deal with the said property."

On April 14, 2019, NIA arrested Irshad Ahmad Reshi son of Nazir Ahmad Reshi of Ratnipora area of Pulwama district.

“A case RC No. 10/2018/NIA/DLI (Attack on CRPF Group Centre, Lethpora) has been framed against accused Irshad upon disclosures by the two accused Nisar Ahmed Tantray and Syed Hilal Andrabi,” NIA spokesman had said in the statement.

The spokesman had said that the accused Irshad is an active Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant outfit.

"Irshad Ahmad Reshi has been found to be a key conspirator who provided logistic support in form of sheltering and transport for the militants and conducting reconnaissance of the CRPF Group Centre, Lethpora before the attack, " the spokesperson had said.

On 14 February 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora near Awantipora in the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The attack resulted in the deaths of 40 central Reserve Police force personnel and the attacker.
