Tirupur (Tamilnadu): Tirupur police on Saturday received information about a newborn baby girl who was found abandoned on the side of the road near Periyar colony in Tamil Nadu.
Passersby had found the abandoned infant, who is barely a day old, and called the police, following which police officials rushed to the spot and took the baby to a nearby private hospital.
Police then informed the child welfare department which in turn admitted the infant at Tirupur Government Hospital.
The baby girl was wrapped in a towel and was left at the pavement on the side of the road.
