Guwahati: North East Frontier Railway (NFR) 'blue gang' celebrated their first anniversary on Friday. The group founded on Women's Day last year, has a total strength of 20 women supervisors.
Incidentally, this is the first women's group in the Railways to look after maintenance of rail coaches and engines. According to reports, the women were previously involved in ancillary maintenance work like curtain repairs and painting of the signage.
Also, few women in the lot were the lone women technicians working in groups of gangmen.
With the women contributing their bit for the smooth maintenance of Railways, the Railways congratulated the group for their relentless work.
