Nagaur: A baby boy with rare disease was born in State Jawaharlal Nehru hospital on Friday. His fingers are attached to each other and his skin is hard and different. It appears as if his body is wrapped around a plastic sheet.
He is having problems in breathing and has been kept under surveillance. Relatives of the baby are in shock after looking at his condition.
Hospital's pediatrician Dr Mularam Kadela explains the cause of rare disease as genetic disorder.
"These babies are known as collodion babies and it happens to one in 6 lakh babies. The infant is born encased in a tight shiny membrane that resembles plastic wrap. The collodion membrane cracks and peels over the course of several weeks. Survival rate of babies born with this disease is very less." said Kadela
Sehdev and Durga, parents of the baby are the natives of Guda Bhagwandas. This is their second baby who survived. Their three babies died previously and the fourth one is alive.They both are in shock since the time their baby was born.
