Bengaluru: Hours after M. Vasudeva Maiya, former Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Sri Guru Raghavendra Cooperative Bank Ltd was found dead in his car, Director General of Police on Tuesday handed over the case to the Crime Investigation Department(CID). The case, initially registered by the local police, was handed over to CID to speed up the investigation. The development comes after police found a 12-page long suicide note and some files in his vehicle.
The former CEO allegedly ended his life after consuming liquor laced with poison on Monday. His car was found parked on the roadside away from his house in Chikkalasandra.
Maiya's residence was raided by the State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on June 18 in connection with the alleged irregularities in the bank scam. According to reports, the deceased was accused of illegally transferring Rs 1400 crore, which was deposited by the customers of Raghuvendra coop bank, to the bank accounts of 27 people.
The Reserve Bank of India, Enforcement Directorate, Criminal Investigation Department, and Registrar of Cooperative Societies are probing the case of alleged irregularities.

The cops and the forensic team collected evidence from the spot.
The body was sent to the hospital for post-mortem and would be handed over to the family members after receiving the forensic report. However, primary investigation suggests that Maiya allegedly committed suicide over the fear of investigation in connection with the bank scam.
Earlier, the ACB had stated that raids were conducted at the bank's head office, its various branches, and the residence of the bank's president Dr K Ramakrishna.
