Surat (Gujarat): With masks being a must while stepping out of the house amid coronavirus outbreak, Mota Mandir Yuvak Mandal - a 53-year-old organisation in Gujarat’s Surat - has risen to the occasion and distributed around 25 lakh masks for free across Gujarat and other states.
Of these 25 lakh masks, 12 lakh have been distributed in Surat with four lakh being donated to SMIMER hospital and employees of the Surat Municipal Corporation while the city police have been given 40,000 masks.
Nearly four lakh masks have been distributed in Uttar Pradesh alone, including 2.5 lakh masks in Varanasi and 1.5 lakh in Amethi.

What makes these masks unique is that it consists of three layers made up of three different fabrics - khadi, linen and cotton - apart from the messages imprinted on them including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call “I too am corona warrior” and “Arogya Setu” - urging people to download the application developed by the government to tackle COVID-19, and "Wear mask and stay safe".
