New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday received the first tranche of 4475 oxygen concentrators from Singapore.
The Temasek Foundation of Singapore has offered to donate a total of 20,000 oxygen concentrators to India. The oxygen concentrators, which convert atmosphere air to therapeutic oxygen that has a concentration of 90 percent to 95 percent, will be provided to the Covid-19 patients.
Receiving the first consignment of oxygen concentrators, Union Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Chaubey said that these oxygen concentrators will substantially aid the fight against Covid-19 in the country.
As per reports, these concentrators would be distributed among states and UTs for use in moderate cases of Covid-19.
As the machine obviates the need for transportation and refilling of heavy oxygen cylinders, they can be placed in the wards where such patients are provided care. These machines can be used at Covid care centres and the railway coaches that have been repurposed as Covid care centres.

Officials said that the primary focus has been on dry detection through house to house surveys, surveillance, contact tracing, effective containment plans and widespread testing.
