Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) will seek an explanation from Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress leaders in the state were upset with Tharoor’s praise of Modi.
KPCC is intervening in the issue as BJP leaders could use these statements to attack Congress in the by-polls that are nearing.
KPCC might ask Tharoor not to make such remarks again. Officially, it might also ask the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to intervene in similar incidents by Congress leaders.
UDF Convener Benny Behanan says that justifying Modi is not the job of congress's leaders, whoever whether it is Shashi Tharoor or not. Benny Behanan added that the leadership should look into the mindset of Congress leaders and take action on them who are upset when they oppose Modi.
Tharoor and his colleague Abishek Singhvi had last week supported party leader Jairam Ramesh who had said that not recognising Modi's work and "demonising" him all the time was not going to help.
