Bareilly: An IPS officer in Karampur Chaudhary area of Bareilly district got injured on Monday when a mob attacked the police personnel after they took one of villager under custody for breaking ongoing lockdown rules.
IPS Abhishek Verma got injured in the clash between police and villagers, which took place after the police insisted villagers, who were roaming in a group on the streets, to go inside their home.
Around 300-400 villagers came on the street to stop police from taking action against those who were roaming in a group and they started pelting stones on police.
Police have arrested 17 stone pelters who were among the mob and a search is on for others also.
SP Ravindra Kumar said that we have arrested 17 people who were pelting stones on the police personnel and others have also been identified we will soon arrest them.
