Mob attacks officials investigating power theft

The villagers of Ladpura Balram in Rajasthan attacked officials of the State power corporation who were investigating power thefts in the area. Two officers were injured and their vehicle was damaged.

Jhalawar: A team of power corporation officials out to remove the illegal electric transformer and check electricity theft at Rajasthan's Jhalawar district found itself on the backfoot as a group of residents allegedly attacked its members. Two officials were severely injured and vehicles were vandalised.

The agitated mob attacked the power corporation officials with sticks and sharp weapons, according to reports. An FIR was filed against some villagers. The officials were chased away by the villagers.

Assistant Engineer Kuldeep Singh, told ETV Bharat, "Our team received information about illegal electric connections. We went there to check and disconnect illegal connections in Ladpura Balram village. The villagers got furious and a scuffle broke out between the two groups. Some of the villagers also thrashed our officials with sticks and vandalised our vehicles. The window glasses of our vehicles were damaged and our officials sustained serious injuries."

The injured officials were identified as electricians Pintu Kumar and Patel Narayan.
