However, Mirzapur-2 is also being blamed for bringing a bad name to Mirzapur, a nondescript town in Uttar Pradesh. It is being claimed that the story being told in Mirzapur-2 is far from reality. Mirzapur: Mirzapur is a district in Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. Like Lord Shiva’s city of Varanasi, Mirzapur is also famous as the Vindhyachal Dham. The famous temple of Maa Vindhyavasini is located here, where lakhs of devotees come to offer their obeisance. At the same time, this city is full of natural beauty, which also gives a feeling of faith and peace to the people. Therefore, the people question why the city is being painted with a criminal image of Mirzapur, which will create a sense of fear among the people, but the matter of the fact, is that Mirzapur is the centre of tourism and religious faith. This is the reason that social activist and comedian Raju Srivastava, former Union Minister and Mirzapur MP Anupriya Patel have conveyed their reservation about the web series.

“The web series – Mirzapur-2 - has nothing to do with the reality of Mirzapur. This is a fictional web series. If you are making a film, then at least mention the true events in it. Mirzapur is the centre of tourism and faith in the country. Crime, abuse and negative image have been depicted in the web series, which is not fair. It is spreading the negative image of Mirzapur all over the world, which must be stopped immediately," said Ayush, a local resident.

MIRZAPUR DECIDES INDIA’S IST ZONE

India’s international standard time (IST) zone is also decided from Mirzapur, which is measured from the Amravati square in the district. Mirzapur is also famous for the red stone. It is said that in ancient times this stone was used by Emperor Ashoka the Great, the king of the Maurya dynasty, in making the Buddhist stupa and also the Ashoka Stambha, which is currently the national symbol of India.

“In order to have the ‘darshan’ of the mother Vindhyavasini, people from all over India and even from abroad come to Mirzapur every year, which should be highlighted. The timing pattern of the world has been influenced by the Vindhyachal. This is the standard time. Mirzapur has been a very peaceful district. The Ganga-Jamuni culture is very strong here. There has never been a Hindu-Muslim riot in Mirzapur. Whatever is shown in the film by taking the name of Mirzapur smacks of a plot to discredit the people of Mirzapur? It should be strongly condemned, said Ramendra Kumar Shukla, Former DGC, Crime.

THE SITES WHICH ADD BEAUTY AND GRANDEUR TO MIRZAPUR

Mirzapur is surrounded by Vindhyachal, Aravalli and Nilgiri range of mountains. It is known as the Vindhya region. The city’s Chunar Fort is quite famous. Apart from this, the beautiful banks of Ganga including Sitakund, Lal Bhairav Temple, Moti pond, Tanda waterfall, Windham waterfall, Kharanja waterfall, Lakhania Ki Dari, Chunadari, Sirsi dam, Bakaria waterfall, Tarakeswar Mahadev, Mahatrikon Shivpur, Gurudwara, Guruvarta Bagh and Rameshwar, Devraha Baba Ashram and so on are famous among the people and add a lot of beauty to the city. In the north of Mirzapur is Varanasi, in south Sonbhadra district and in the west lies Allahabad district.

“The web series Mirzapur-2 presents an incorrect portrayal of Mirzapur. It is a historical religious city. People here come from all over the country and abroad to visit the temple of Maa Vindhyavasini. Next to it is the Fort of Chunar. Tourists also come here in large numbers. Mirzapur is famous as a tourist destination. Mirzapur has many waterfalls. In the film, Mirzapur has been shown as a city of musclemen, those who bully others. This will prevent tourists from coming here. People will not invest in Mirzapur. The image, which has been depicted in Mirzapur, is very saddening," said Durgesh Patel, a local resident.

MIRZAPUR IS FAMOUS BECAUSE OF CELEBRITIES
