Minor girl gang-raped by five persons in Bihar; four held, one at large

Four persons were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a minor girl in Bihar's Darbhanga district. Although the incident took place on April 24, the complaint was lodged at Darbhanga Police Station yesterday after the video of the crime went viral on social media.

Darbhanga (Bihar): A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped in a village under Jale police limits of Bihar's Darbhanga district, the police said on Saturday.

Although the incident took place on April 24, the complaint was lodged at Darbhanga Police Station yesterday after the video of the crime went viral on social media.

According to police, in the video, the victim was seen raped by five miscreants. Four accused persons were arrested by Darbhanga police.

While the minor girl was returning to her home, the accused persons forcibly took her to the nearest forest and sexually exploited her one after another. However, she broke her silence and narrated her ordeal to the family members after the video of the incident went viral, police said.

On being informed about the incident, Darbhanga police registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. However, the identities of the accused persons are yet to be ascertained.

During the investigation, four accused persons have been arrested and one of the accused has been absconding. All accused persons are residents of Jale village. They will be produced before the court after completion of formalities, the police added.

The accused were arrested on the basis of a video clip of the incident that went viral on social media. Efforts are on to nab the other accused who is absconding, the police further added.
