New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) “Lilavati Awards” will be launched on Tuesday at 5 p.m, the Minister of Education tweeted.
Named after the 12th-century mathematical treatise "Lilavati" devoted to arithmetic and algebra written by the Indian mathematician Bhaskara II, also known as Bhaskara Achārya, the award is for outstanding contribution to public outreach in mathematics.

The launch will be hosted online and the Theme for the Lilavati Award will be on “Women Empowerment”.
The programme will also be live on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
The award will be given for the following categories
- Women Health
- Self Defense
- Sanitation and Hygiene
- Literacy
- Women Entrepreneurship
- Legal Awareness
Under the category, institutional or Team Level comprises either of students or faculty or both, from AICTE approved technical institution or deemed to be university who had undertaken remarkable invention in the various sub-themes and made an impact in the society.

The team has to showcase its work undertaken in the last two years from the date of announcement of the award for the cause of women empowerment.
The maximum team size will be 5 members having a minimum of 2 (two) women members.
The eligible entries received from different institutions will be evaluated by a committee and the winning team will get a certificate for first, second and third rank under every sub-theme a scroll of honour from AICTEs.
