MHA claims abrogation of Article 370 and 35A among top achievements in one year period

While highlighting the achievements of Narendra Modi government 2.0, Union Home Ministry presented the abrogation of Article 370 & 35 A from J&K, zero-tolerance against terrorism, the opening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, focus on northeast as few of its achievements in one year period.

New Delhi: As the Narendra Modi government 2.0 completes one year on Saturday, Union Home Ministry has highlighted the abrogation of Article 370 & 35 A from J&K, zero-tolerance against terrorism, the opening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, focus on northeast as few of its achievements in one year period.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda during their speech also highlighted the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as another achievement of the central government in the last one year.

Terming the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A as a historic step, the home ministry said that implementation of the act brought J&K and Ladakh at par with other states and UTs.

"The Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganisation) Act, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir reorganized into Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with legislature and UT of Ladakh without legislature formally came into force on October 31, 2019," the ministry said while highlighting its achievements.

The Ministry also highlighted that opening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, organising Amarnath Yatra in 2019 with a 20 per cent increase in visitors are two other achievements of the ministry.

The Ministry further said that amendments in the NIA Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act have been further strengthened Government's stand against terrorism and insurgency.

Amendment in the Disaster Management Act is also another achievement of the ministry, the government claimed. It cited that home ministry played an important role in several natural calamities and disasters including dealing with Covid19, handling several cyclones among others.

"The Home Home Ministry also successfully coordinated in the rescue and rehabilitation of disaster-affected people," the government claimed.

The Ministry also highlighted that increasing the retirement age of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel to 60 years, and implementation of organised group A service status to officers of CAPFs are also other achievements in the last one year.
