MEA responds to OIC on India's stand on Jammu and Kashmir

Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed its stand after Organisation of Islamic Cooperation adopted a resolution raising concerns about human rights violation in Kashmir. The OIC resolution was adopted a day after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj urged the member of the organisation to come together to fight the global menace of terrorism.

New Delhi: Ministry of External Affairs, on Sunday reaffirmed its stand after Organisation of Islamic Cooperation adopted a resolution raising concerns about human rights violation in Kashmir.

In its response, it said, "As regards the resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, our stand is consistent and well known. We reaffirm that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India and is a matter strictly internal to India."

The OIC resolution was adopted a day after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj urged the member of the organisation to come together to fight the global menace of terrorism.

Sushma Swaraj attended the Organisation of Islamic Conference foreign ministers summit on 1 March as the Guest of Honour.Sushma Swaraj was extended invitation by her United Arab Emirates counterpart.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi boycotted the event in protest against the extended invitation to Indian counterpart as the guest of honour. This is the first, Pakistan has skipped the OIC event.
