New Delhi: After reports of many Indians missing in the Christchurch mosques shooting have emerged, the Ministry of External Affairs has claimed that it's mission in New Zealand is in constant touch with local authorities.
Issuing a statement, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar stated that it's a sensitive matter therefore it can't give any confirmed numbers or name until they are absolutely sure about it.
However, Indian High Commissioner in New Zealand Sanjiv Kohli did not confirm the numbers but talks about receiving reports through multiple sources that atleast 9 people of Indian origin are missing in the shooting.
In a series of tweets, AIMIM chief Assaduddin Owaisi has claimed that the video of Christchurch shooting shows an Indian origin person Ahmed Jehangir being shot.
He sought External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's help for his family who lives in Hyderabad and would like to visit him. He also claimed that another Indian national Farhaj Ahsan who also hails from Hyderabad and visited the same mosque is missing.
He requested assistance from Sushma Swaraj for his family as well. Dozens lost their lives after few right wing extremists entered two Christchurch mosques and started shooting people. So far, four people have been held in connection with the incident.
