Mandala hails its daughter for bringing laurels to village

Breaking free from the barricades of her tribal village Mandala in MP, athlete Mini Singh has marched forward to establish a name for herself in the sports arena. Mini created history in September last year by winning a gold medal in 5000 runs and walk race, a silver medal in 1500 meters and a bronze in Four in Two Four at the Asia Pacific Sports Event in Malaysia.

Mandala: Mini Singh, an Indian athlete who hails from Madhya Pradesh's Mandala district has broken free from the barricades of her tribal village and marched forward to establish a name for herself across the world.

The tribal woman has successfully made a mark on the national as well as international arena in the world of sports and has won over half a hundred medals and certificates for her game.

Hailing from a small village, Mini started her journey with Hockey and Judo as her father, Madan Singh, was the coach of NSINISI. The ace athlete had to struggle a lot in her initial days. However, Mini refused to give up and put her heart and soul into her training.

The sporting legend triumphed in life’s race, overcoming humble beginnings, financial difficulties, inadequate facilities and lack of government aids to outshine in her game and represented India at the global level.

Last week, Mini secured second and third position in the international competition held in Delhi between India and Bangladesh. She has now started training her daughter in the field of sports as well and wants her to establish her career in it.

With Women's Day round the corner, the athlete says that hard work and consistency can get any woman several laurels, no matter from how humble family or backward area she hails from. Women should not give up fearing mocking and criticism, but make it a motivation to work even harder and prove themselves right.
