Man who forged Modi's signature arrested

The man from Maharashtra who used a fake appointment letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convince a woman to marry him was arrested in Rajasthan.

Alwar: Police on Monday arrested a 31-year-man for marrying a woman by using fake appointment letter with forged signature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The accused Amit Kapoor is a resident from Maharashtra.

Amit had met the girl in 2018 and became affable with her family members. The accused told the family of the girl that he was working with in PMO. He even showed a fake appointment letter claiming that it was signed by PM Modi. The girl's family believed him and the marriage took place. It was only after the girl's family found out that he was a fraud, they lodged a complaint at the Kotwali police station.

The family of the girl also shot a letter to the PMO stating that how the accused cheated them using the fake signature of PM Modi.

On May 8, Deputy Director, PMO wrote to the DGP of Rajasthan on May 8 that the accused used fake signature and fake appointment letter which prompted the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) to launch a full-fledged investigation into the matter.

Acting on a tip-off, the police caught Amit Kapoor from Alwar and will be presented in the court today.
