Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka on top with maximum Covid cases and deaths

According to the latest statistics released by the Health Ministry, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are the leading states with COVID-19 caseload and deaths.

New Delhi: Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka at present are leading the list of 36 states and UTs as far as maximum COVID-19 caseload and deaths are concerned in India.

The latest statistics released by the Health Ministry said that Maharastra has 194399 active cases followed by 100276 cases in Andhra Pradesh and 87254 cases in Karnataka.

Similarly, 24583 deaths have reported in Maharastra till Tuesday, 3969 deaths in Andhra Pradesh and 5702 deaths have been reported in Karnataka.

Confirmed cases in Maharastra till date is 792541 follows by 434771 in Andhra Pradesh and 342423 total positive cases have been reported in Karnataka.

Uttar Pradesh comes fourth in the list of such states with active COVID cases of 54788 and 3486 deaths till date.

Ironically, India has already achieved another grim milestone of maximum COVID deaths after the US and Brazil.

India now comes after US (183602) and Brazil (121381), with 65,288 total deaths due to the pandemic. India went past Mexico having 64,414 deaths.

India registered 819 deaths in the last 24 hours.

With a total of 36,91,166 COVID positive cases, India already came at number three after the US (6031286) and Brazil (3908272).

Although in the last 24 hours, India recorded 69,921 new COVID cases, 65,081 recoveries also reported during the same period.

The total number of COVID recovered patients now stands at 28,39,882 with an increasing rate of 77 per cent.

The number of recovered patients has overtaken active cases by 3.61 times.

Significantly, in the last 24 hours, five states namely Maharastra (11852), Andhra Pradesh (10004), Karnataka (6495), Tamil Nadu (5956) and Uttar Pradesh (4782), together account 56 per cent of the confirmed cases reported in last one day.

However, these five states also reported the maximum number of recoveries in the last 24 hours.

With Maharastra (11158), Andhra Pradesh (8772), Karnataka (7238), Tamil Nadu (6008) and Uttar Pradesh (4597) cumulatively account for 58.04 per cent of recoveries of the national figure of 65,081.

India till date conducted a total of 4.3 crore COVID tests with 1,22,66,514 tests being conducted in the last 24 hours.
