Ayodhya: Swami Paramhans Das, Mahant of Ayodhya's Tapaswi Chhawni has started an indefinite hunger strike from 5 am Monday demanding that India should be declared a Hindu nation.
He and his followers are demanding that followers of Hindu religion from Pakistan and Bangladesh should return to India. They also said Indians outside the country should come back.
Earlier, Paramahansa Das had also fasted for several days demanding the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, was detained by the police. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had to intervene himself after which Swami called-off his strike.
Mahant Paramahansa Das said in a conversation with ETV India that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proved that he can do anything in the interest of the country by abolishing Section 370 and Triple Talaq.
"After the partition, Pakistan has declared an Islamic nation due to its majority of people follows Islam but India is still not declared as the Hindu nation although the majority of Hindus lives here," he said.
Mahant Paramahansa Das said, "I believe that if the minority community in India continues to increase its population, then one day it will again demand the partition of the country. So, we still have time and the government should immediately declare India as a Hindu nation."
The district administration has deployed security personnel for the safety of Swami Paramahansa Das.
