Mumbai (Maharashtra): A high tide is expected to hit Mumbai at 1:20 pm on Thursday, stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The organisation also stated that low tide will also occur at 7:21 in the evening of the same day.
When there is a high tide during the rainy season, flooded water in the city finds it difficult to get into the seas. Low tide will help the flood waters in the city to find an outlet to enter into the seas.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai has predicted moderate rain in the city and in suburbs. The minimum and maximum temperatures will hover around 24 degree Celsius and 30 degree Celsius throughout the day.
While tides are a common phenomenon in Mumbai, occurring twice a day, citizens have been cautioned to stay away from the shoreline during high tide as it may increase waterlogging problem caused by heavy rainfall in the financial capital.
Typically, drains and small tributaries usually flow directly into the sea. However, experts believe that when a high tide hits the area, the flow of tributaries and rivers may get blocked and result in flood like situation.
