Satna: Police on Sunday arrested a notorious ganja smuggler along with his six accomplices after an encounter in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.
According to the police, the main accused, identified as Anoop Jaiswal, was carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head. Jaiswal along with his accomplices were arrested at Satna under Maihar police station.
"Cash worth Rs 2.12 crores, four four-wheelers, 94 kg ganja worth Rs 9.5 lakhs and a revolver worth Rs 2.77 crores have been seized from the possession of the group, in which Jaiswal was a part of. They were returning from Bhopal," police said.
"The ganja smugglers have been arrested under the provisions of Indian Narcotics Act and section 332 of (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty). A case has been registered following which the accused were presented in a judicial court," said Chanchal Shekhar, Inspector General.
However, two of the accused of the drug racket are absconding and efforts are on to nab them.

According to cops, Jaiswal has a huge network and they have been carrying out their illegal racket in other states from a long time. Jaiswal and his henchmen were on the run and efforts were made to nab them. Since then, the surveillance of drug peddlers has been intensified.
"We had conducted raids many times but the peddlers made an easy escape. A special team was constituted and massive searches were conducted across the state but everytime they escaped," Shekhar added.
Acting on a tip-off, the team went to the gangster's location following which an encounter broke out and our team retaliated. We have arrested seven people. Till date, 40 cases of drug smuggling have been registered against Jaiswal and his aides.
