Sheila Dikshit cremated with full state honours

The 81-year-old Congress veteran died on Saturday

The mortal remains of former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit were consigned to flames, with colleagues, Congress workers and admirers braving heavy rains and gusty winds to bid her final farewell.

The 81-year-old Congress veteran, who died on Saturday due to cardiac arrest, was cremated with full state honours at the Nigambodh Ghat.

New Delhi: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid tributes to former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit at the party headquarters on Sunday. 

Earlier, mortal remains of former chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit was taken to the Congress headquarters.

Congress stalwart passed away due to cardiac arrest in a Delhi hospital on Saturday.

Her last rites will be performed later today.

Delhi Government has announced two-day mourning for Sheila Dikshit.
