Lord Krishna's birthplace Mathura is all decked up and teeming with devotees to celebrate the Janmashtami on Friday.

The hustle and bustle in markets and temples have started with devotees thronging the holy city, which adorns a festive look.

Krishna devotees and tourists from all over the world are gathering in the city for the celebrations. The administrative arrangements have also been strengthened in the city.

Guntur (Andhra Pradesh): Janmashtami is being celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm across the state. The children at VIVA school premises in Nambur of Guntur district came dressed as either Lord Krishna or ‘gopikas’. The celebrations started with a skit by the students, depicting the birth of Krishna, called ‘Sri Krishna Lelalu’.

The Children dressed as Lord Krishna and Gopis also performed dance at the Cultural Centre of Vijaywada & Amaravati (CCVA). 

Janmashtami is celebrated by Hindu devotees to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna who is believed to be the eighth avatar or incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On this auspicious day, the famous folklore of his birth is narrated in Hindu temples and devotees organise plays and dance performances based on Lord Krishna’s life.
