Ernakulam: Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) has sent out letters to the associations of film artists and that of the technicians seeking to reduce their respective compensations in the current crisis, here on Saturday.

Officials letters seeking to reduce compensations have been sent to Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) - the actors’ association and Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) - film technicians’ association.

KFPA has sought all artists and technicians to take a pay cut after discussions within the respective organisations. Later, all associations are to sit together and reach a consensus, the producers urged.

It was decided to reduce the production cost of Malayalam films by half in a KFPA meeting held on Friday. To move forward as decided, it is necessary that the technicians and artists also cooperate by agreeing to reduce their compensations significantly, say the producers.

The producers intend to decide on the percentage of cut in compensations through discussions. As many artists have themselves donned the role of producers, they cannot neglect our demand, the producers added. (IANS)
