Malappuram: A youth was hacked to death after a clash between two groups in Malappuram. The man was identified as 26-year-old Yasar Arafath, a native of Kootayi in Malappuram.
Two others were injured in the clash. The attack took place on Friday at around 11.30 pm.
Though Yasar was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to severe injuries at the hospital.
The Police has denied the presence of any political motives behind the clash.
Shameem, 24 years and his brother Sajeef, 26 years, are currently undergoing treatment at Malappuram district hospital.
A police team led by Tirur CI TP Farshad and SI Jaleel Karuthedathu has been deployed at the spot.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and intensified search for the culprits. The body of the deceased will be handed over to relatives on Saturday after post-mortem procedures.
