Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Beverages Corporation resumed the commercial sale of liquor, in Kerala on Thursday.
To restrict people from queuing up at liquor shops, mobile phone application, Bev Q has been launched. The software enables customers to place their order in advance by mobile and collect the parcels from liquor stores at a predetermined time.
According to reports, the sale will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, it will be regulated according to the token numbers and time issued. "More than five persons will not be allowed at a time, police will be deployed to regulate the crowd. Moreover, thermal scanning will be done and those who have any symptoms of coronavirus, will not be allowed to purchase liquor," an official said.

He also added that the outlets have been strictly advised to follow coronavirus precautionary measures.
More than 1,15000 bookings have been received so far in less than a day since the app became functional. "SMS facility can also be opted for, to purchase liquor," a source said.
"The buyer must reach the outlet at the exact time specified on the token. If one gets late and the token time lapses, the person will have have to book again to get another token. Once a token is issued, the same person can book for another token only on the fifth day" another official explained.
In order to obtain their product, the buyers should show some identity proof. Further, a customer booking an e-token through the virtual queue management (VQM) system using a smart phone will get a QR code, which has to be scanned at the outlet using the registered mobile.
