Palakkad (Kerala): A video of snake sculpture made by a Kerala man has gone viral on social media and has received wide appreciation. On one hand, when even a glimpse of one of the most poisonous land snakes 'viper' is terrifying, the snake sculpture made by Shaju, a Palakkad resident, is admired even by artisans. However, Shaju started experimenting with his skills only after he turned thirty.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, Shaju said, "I built sculptures at regular interval. The video was uploaded by my younger brother Shijith and I am happy that people have liked my work. I was always interested in mosaic work and I have been experimenting with it. My family has always supported me and have taken initiatives to promote my talent. I am really happy that all my attempts of making sculptures have turned out to be an amazing piece of art. I have also made swan, giraffe and female sculptures out of a single log of wood".

Believing it difficult to be just a snake sculpture, locals often confuse that this astonishing piece of art was carved out of a single log of wood, that too in a week. Hailing from Pattambi Perumudiyoor, Shaju is well known for making beautiful sculptures in one piece. With time, the sculpture of viper has become favourite in Shaju's house which initially used to scare everyone if leaned against the wall.
