Kerala govt schools to admit 1.75 lakh new students

Public Education Rejuvenation Mission in Kerala has helped in remodelling the public education system. This year the state-run school will intake as many as 1.75 lakh students in classes 1 to 10.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): As many as 1.75 lakh children have enrolled for classes 1 to 10 in the State Government-run schools, this academic year. This is after the preliminary analysis of the data with the Education department. More than 6.8 lakh students have joined the State schools in the past four years since the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission has been implemented.

This academic year, 8170 more children have taken admissions to class 1 compared to the previous academic year. As many as 43789 more students have joined class 5 in state schools this year than last year. In Class 8, 35606 more have taken admission. In Government Aided Schools, 175074 more students have enrolled in various classes. There is a total of 33,75,340 lakh students enrolled in this sector as of now. There has been an increase of 47,760 children while considering the total number of students as against last year.

Meanwhile, in the Unaided schools’ sector, there has been a decrease of 91510 students in the total number of students.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that this is the result of improving the school infrastructure and the standard of education as part of Public Education Rejuvenation. Now, public schools are equipped with facilities of high standards. The public education rejuvenation mission was implemented with a social vision to ensure international standard education even to the child from the lowest strata of the society
