Army officer shoots at colleague at Katni ordnance factory

Shakar Singh who shot his senior Ashok Shikara locked himself inside a room after the shooting. Police at the scene said they were persuading him to surrender.

Katni: A Defense Security Corps (DSC) officer was shot dead by another officer after a dispute during the evening parade at Ordnance Factory in Katni (OFK).

After shooting his partner Ashok Shikara, Shankar Singh locked himself in a room and threatened to commit suicide. According to reports, Singh has not surrendered yet.

Singh fired four to five rounds at his senior’s head and face killing Shikara on the spot, according to OFK officials.

Additional SP Sandeep Mishra said that the body of Shikara has been sent for post-mortem.

Duty changes were going on during the incident and there were not many people inside OFK. However, the other employees were evacuated safely.

Reports said, the security agency of the Defense Institute and Madhavanagar police were trying to persuade Singh to surrender who is reportedly armed with guns.
