Karnataka woman pledges her Mangalya Chain for husband's funeral

Karnataka woman has pledged her Mangalya Chain to perform the funeral rites of her husband after he died of heart attack in Kannur village. Sources revealed that the Umesh, an ambulance driver, did not receive any medical and financial help from the administration.

Gadag: In a tragic incident, a woman has pledged her Mangalya Chain to perform her husband's funeral rites who worked as an ambulance driver in Konnur village of Naragund Taluk.

Umesh Hadagali, an ambulance driver by profession, died of a heart attack on May 27 in Kannur village. Reportedly, neither the district administration nor the health department provided any financial and medical help to Umesh's family.

After not getting any aid from the authorities, wife of the deceased who is facing financial crisis, pledged that she would sell her Mangalya Chain to perform the funeral ceremomy of her husband

However, Chief Minister B.S. Yadiyurappa contacted Umesh's family after five days of the mishap and assured compensation for kin of the deceased.

As per the information, doctors and medical staff who were on duty in Kannur's hospital were not getting proper medical attention from the administration.

According to Health Ministry, total active Covid-19 cases in Karnataka stands at 1952 and death toll has rose to 1218. State has reported 51 casualties till date.
