JNU violence: HRD Min officials to meet JNU VC tomorrow

In a bid to break the logjam in Jawaharlal Nehru University over the recent violence, HRD ministry functionaries held a lengthy parley with students and the varsity administration on Tuesday but could not reach an agreement, officials said.

New Delhi: Officials from the HRD Ministry will meet JNU Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar on Wednesday to discuss the recent violence on campus and other issues affecting the varsity's normal functioning.

"The Vice-Chancellor will be meeting the senior officials tomorrow at the Ministry," an official said.

On Monday, a team of top officials from JNU including the Registrar visited the Ministry and updated the top brass about the situation on campus.

They also submitted a detailed report on the sequence of events that transpired at the varsity premises on Sunday.

However, Kumar was not present at the meeting.
