New Delhi: The Jamia Millia Islamia students protested for eight continuous days against the show cause notice issued to five students on campus. The students are on their all-day, all-night protest but the administration has still not addressed them nor invited the students for any sort of discussion.
Former JNU leader Umar Khalid on Monday visited the campus to address the students. He found it difficult to even get into campus as the security refused to let them pass. Khalid had to address the protesting students at Gate No. 7 of the University.
Addressing the students Khalid accused the government of suppressing the voices raised against it. "The government fears the unity among the students," he said.
It should be noted that the students at the Jamia began their protest when five of them were issued a show-cause notice for conducting a previous protest against the visit of Israeli delegates for an event.
The students had 'peacefully' protested to express their disassociation with the invitation to Israel in the campus as they believe Israel is committing large scale human rights violation in Palestine.
