Jammu and Kashmir story would not affect Nagaland: Zeliang

Former Chief Minister of Nagaland Taditui Rangkau Zeliang says partial revocation of Article 370 from J&K would have no impact on the Naga Framework.

Guwahati: Leader of the Naga People's Front and former Chief Minister of Nagaland Taditui Rangkau Zeliang said on Thursday that partial revocation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and the state having been converted into two Union Territories "would not affect Naga Framework in any way".

"(Status of) Article 370 does not affect Naga Framework in any way but it has to be clarified and discussed broadly. Naga Framework should be kept in mind when it comes to Article 371(A), which gives special status to Nagaland," he said.meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday had assured the states designated with special powers under Article 371 of the Constitution that the Narendra Modi government had no intention to remove the provision.Under the provision of Article 371(A), inserted after a 16-point agreement between the Centre and the Naga People’s Convention in 1960, that led to the creation of Nagaland in 1963,Parliament cannot legislate in matters of Naga religion or social practices, Naga customary law and procedure, administration of civil and criminal justice involving decisions according to Naga customary law, and ownership and transfer of land without the concurrence of the state assembly.Also, read: Ghulam Nabi Azad reacts to NSA's video, claims 'money can buy loyalty'
